We arrived back in the Alice on the 7th and stayed again at the Stuart Caravan Park, booking in until the 10th.
Yesterday we took a trip to Hermannsburg, an old Lutheran mission in the middle of nowhere. The mission is long closed but the small town and new church are still thriving. The old buildings and photo's were about as historic as you can get in Australia and we really enjoyed our $6 visit. When we were in Tennant Creek we met a very pleasant German couple, Hartwig and Christiana Harms. When we net them again at Uluru they explained that they cane from Hermannsburg in Germany and that Hartwigs great great etc.. grandfather was the person who founded Hermannsburg in Australia. He was right but unfortunately it was founded in 1840 so there are no photographs of the guy.
On the way back we stopped off at Ellory Creek Bighole, another very scenic place with very cold water and cute little ducks.
Today is washday, visit the town day, internet catchup day and drink as much as you like withut the risk of a breathaliser day.
We leave tomorrow and travell back up towards Tennant Creek.
