We were hoping to drive the 450k to Ayres Rock today but after talking to people last night we found out that the price of beer there was astronomical. As we had little beer on board we decided to go to one of the bottle shops in Alice before commencing our journey. Bad decision as the botle shops did not open until 2pm. At least it gave us time to catch up on the internet. On top of that, the bottle shops would not sell wine by the cask until 6pm. Another Aboriginal thing, we suppose.
We purchased 2 x 34 bottle cases of Tooheys new and were then ready for the 200k journey to Erldunda, about half way to the rock.
After settling down in the caravan park it wasn't long before we were joined by a tabby cat with an injured front paw. It did not take long before we were all the best of friends and he invited himself into our van for a tuna supper.
We have seen very few felines in Oz. They must exist because the cat food section in all the supermarkets is fairly big. Maybe they all make their way to Aileron to be abducted by aliens.
