What a great start to the day. We had breakfast early and left the campsite at 7:15am Yesterday we saw a sign which said that the time there was 45 minutes behind that in South Australia.

We drove the tourist loop around Esperence which ended in a 10km stretch of coatline which was not fabulous, not wonderful but truly dazzling. There is no other way to describe it. Early morning kangaroos were hopping in the road in front of us. We wondered why we were the only vehicle on the road and soon found out when we heard the time on the local radio station equivalent of classic fm. It was 45 minutes earlier than we thought it was. We had gone through 2 and not just 1 45 minute time zones so it was an hour and a half earlier than our watches showed. We had forgotten to put them back anyway. and got out of bed at 5:15. No wonder it was still dark.

Another long days driving today and a change of scenery. Farming takes over from wild bushland. We were now in Cow, Sheep and Crop country.

We saw a large lizzard in the middle of the road and stopped to take pictures of it. Every time my camera clicked, it opened its huge mouth in an aggresive pose but before I could take a picture of the open mouth it was closed again. It was click, open close, click, open close and I never did get the open mouth.

We stayed at our first big4 caravan park, a popular name over here. It was at Middleton Beach.
A path near to our van led directly onto the beach, a glorious stretch of white sand and crashing waves. Unfortunately the last few weeks have spoilt us. We were most disappointed to see other people on the beach. How dare they!
