We've been very busy during the past 3 days.

We have again visited the Botanic gardens to see the bits we missed the first time which included the Tropical Orchid House. Chris was in hysterics when I mis-pronounced the name of one of the plants. She thought it might be the name of a lady of ill repute with a little something extra on the menu. I called a Venus Fly Trap a Venus Tri Flap. We then went to the Sydney Art Gallery, again a super place to visit.

We've also been to Darling harbour to see the Sydney Boat Show and visit the National Maritime Museum. One of the chargeable exhibits ($15)  was a replica of Captain Cooks ship, the Endeavour. One plank was from the original Endeavour, WOW. Not that much of a plank though. There was also a wooden nail from the batch made for the ship which had been sent into space on the Endeavour Shuttle. I managed to touch it. We were shown the boat that Kay Cottee sailed in in 1987 to become the first woman to sail all the way around the world. We actually went inside it. All in all, the museum was great and most of it was free of charge.

We've seen the Catholic Cathedral of St Marys, not fantastically ornate but nevertheless a very large and impressive building and followed this by looking through the Hyde Park Barracks Museum where the transported convicts were housed for 30 years before it became a reception centre for immigrants and later court buildings.

Last but not least we have been in the New South Wales Parliament House. That was really good because there was a GREAT exhibition of works by the NSW Embroidery Guild, Chris pounced on the catalogue and dragged me round for what seemed like a lifetime. I certainly deserve a couple of beers and I'll be having them in a few minutes.

A quick word about a meal we had a couple of nights ago in a Italian pavement cafe. The food was good but when we asked where the toilet was the man in charge said "We donta hava toilet. They havea one to the righta anda one  to the lefta. Youa choosa whicha one you wanna go".

We have heard that our van will not be ready until Monday morning 13th August so we are hiring a proper campervan for 4 days and doing a small trip while we are waiting.

Oh well, It looks like a trip across the road to the pub again. See you soon.
