Another day in pardise (cold paradise - No I'm kidding - it's only a bit cold, the Ausies are cold but we are only in light sweaters and anoraks).
We have reached Foster, a farming community supply town in South Gippsland, only 40k away fromWilsons Promontary National Park. We are booked into a YHA hostel. We have a double room and share cooking facilities with the rest of the people here which means we have plenty of room because the total hostel population consists of 4 people, two very pleasant Germans and ourselves.
We have just returned from drinking half a dozen schooners at the local pub in the pleasant company of a local Aussie who just about remembers that his great grandfather was once British and he would like to visit Britain some time afer he retires. The Aussies are great.
We have just discovered that the non English speaking ex Mumbai Sydneysider who sold us our phone card and assured us that it would be OK to use to phone Britain for half a cent a minute actually sold us a local phone card which is fine in Australia and does indeed cost only a half cent a minute - BUT IT'S NO BLOODY GOOD TO US.
