We'd planned to use today as a rest day to rest our aching bodies after the 4 day trek, but what we HADN'T planned for was a deafening house party going through the night, denying us any sleep whatsoever.
We both lay there with quilts and pillows over our heads to block out the noise, but it was useless.
The racket eventually stopped at about 8am and we struggled out of bed with heavy eyes and dark moods, before going to get some breakfast.
We shared a table with an older German couple that we'd met in the park, who were interesting breakfast companions and then we headed out to run a few errands.
We successfully booked our bus out tomorrow to El Calafate, bought a few snacks, phoned Katie's parents and also found a fast internet place for me to update the blog later today.
We then did some emailing until lunchtime, Katie cooked a nice risotto in the hostel and then while she watched some inane Sandra Bullock film in the room, I tried to get a grip on the blog.
She then joined me in the internet place, where we stayed until it started to get dark.
It's SOOOOO good to finally get fast machines and a fastish connection so that I can load up some photos. If only they had drives which could read my latest photo DVD, it would have been perfect.
We enjoyed the 80s pop megamix playing at just the right volume in the background and all in all it's been a thoroughly pleasant day of relaxation, not taking ANY photos and more importantly not WALKING more than a few blocks!
Tomorrow sees us go back to El Calafate for the night, then we fly up to Buenos Aires for 6 days or so, which we are really looking forward to.
I'm really hoping that we're able to see a Boca Juniors game because Katie's buying me one of their team tops/jerseys for my birthday! Lucky boy ;)
Lots of love,
Al & Katie xx
