This was not going to be a fun day, we had 3 flights and 4 cities in 2 countries ahead of us.

The worst bit was setting our alarms for 3am! Ouch.

We had packed last night so at least it was a quick getaway. We skulked out of Marie's house like a couple of twisted burglars, trying not to wake anyone...

Once in the car it was pretty easy on the roads, so we decided to drive directly into the central of Adelaide, just to see what it was like (quiet!) and then headed for the airport.

When we arrived we dumped the hire car & keys, checked-in with plenty of time and waited for the flight to Sydney.

Again Qantas were very good, and we arrived on time in New South Wales.

We were bussed straight to the international terminal, bought a couple of books and were in the air again in no time, heading for Christchurch in New Zealand.

Katie snapped a few good piccies from the plane, of the west coast and the Southern Alps...

HELLO NEW ZEALAND! ;)

West coast NZ

Presumably Mount Cook must be down there somewhere.

The weather in Sydney had been cloudy, but in Christchurch is was beautiful.

We had about 5 hours to kill before our final flight, and as lovely as Christchurch is, the airport is rather small!

Katie was not in the mood for doing nothing, and had finished her book on the flight (she's the fastest reader I've ever known but she MUST skim read, right James?!), so she pretty much whinged and moaned the entire time! In a nice way, of course. Ahem.

We flirted with the idea of going into town, but figured we could REALLY do without missing the flight to Auckland, so we played it safe and stayed in the airport.

We investigated buying a New Zealand SIM card for the mobile, but as we got no free minutes with the Vodaphone SIM here (unlike in Oz where we got 120 free mins) we decided to shop around a bit.

We killed some time having lunch & a few beers, and eventually boarded the flight to Auckland.

It was dark when we arrived in the capital (at about 9:30pm) so we quickly collected the hire car and set off for our airport motel.

The motel was close by but SUPER basic, but I guess we were only going to be there for somewhere to sleep, and at least the bed was comfy...

We were exhausted despite doing nothing all day and were asleep by 10pm.

We were enjoying being in our 8th country and couldn't wait to explore, starting tomorrow!

Lots of love,

Al & Katie xx
