Kirst & Rich were up early to go to work (the poor worker bees, MOH-ho-ha-ha!!!!), so Katie got up and I went back to sleep. This travelling thing is so TIRING ;)
I laid in until 10:30 while Katie looked for 'luxury' accomodation in New Zealand for Xmas. I loved my time in bed, but I still guarantee that she enjoyed surfing luxury hotel sites even more than I enjoyed my extra sleep!
We then caught up on email, enjoyed the mod-cons of the flat (tv, sofa, air con, a fridge!), and then met Kirsty for lunch in the financial district.
'Kirst' works for Deutsche Bank, and there's a really good 'hawker' (food) market just over the road, which provided a dizzying choice of cuisine, mainly Asian but pretty much anything, all under one roof at decent prices.

We grabbed a selection of Asian curries, washed them down with some lime juice (a local speciality apparently) and Kirst gave us a suggested itinerary for the afternoon.
She kindly mapped it all out for us freehand, and off we set. It was like Mission Impossible or something!
We navigated our way through the financial area...
... into Chinatown...
... got nowhere near Little India, but did see a few Indian temples...
...and then caught the very snazzy MTR subway to Orchard Road, a real mecca of shopping.
Katie managed to break her Tom Ford sunglasses the other day, and then they suspiciously "fell" into the water on our boat trip in Thailand, meaning (conveniently!) that she now needs to replace them in Singapore!!!! Hmmmm, I think I smell a raaaaaat...
Fortunately I also love a bit of the ol' consumerism and only Bangkok has had anything like decent shopping in our 60 days so far, so we thoroughly enjoyed hour stroll through the various malls, primarily looking for designer sunglasses, but pretty much taking us all over the place!
Katie secured a nice pair of Guccis for the price of about 50 nights accommodation in South America, but it made her happy, so fair enough.
I consoled myself with a large cup of Mug root beer from 7-11 and then later with some weird mango juice which had bits of coconut jelly in them??!?! Helllllllllllo...
We got the bus back to Kirst's from Orchard Road, and Katie grabbed about 4000 winks while I tried to finish off all the S.E. Asian blogs & photos.
When Kirst got home she was able to have a good catch-up with Katie, and then we went to meet Rich after work to get some dinner.
We went up the east bay to a great seafood restaurant, and had some really good black cod, some black pepper crab, sweet & sour prawns and a few other bits & bobs. They very kindly paid for the meal, which was naughty but nice, thanks very much guys! ;)
We then went back into the city for a couple of beers at the scenic Boat Quay before getting a taxi back to their place and some more much needed sleep.
I also have a few friends in Singapore so hopefully I can hook up with them tomorrow but we only have one day left so it's probably difficult to see everyone... fingers crossed anyway!
Lots of love,
Al & Katie xx
