I enjoyed a lie-in today, and my breakfast of toast with marmite & strawberry Yop; there is certainly a LOT to be said for home comforts when you've been away for a few weeks.
James & Anna were at work, Katie was off doing errands, so I headed out to buy a few bits & bobs that I needed for the rest of our travels, and it was cool to walk around central London, a good friend that I know so well, with whom I've shared so many good times over the years!
I didn't achieve much of note today really (apart from enjoying a very nice Burger King which - almost unbelievably - involved a HOT burger and HOT fries!), and I arrived back to the house for about 5pm.
Shortly afterwards I headed back out into town, to meet some of the boys in town for a few beers.
We'd decided to merge my hello/goodbye drinks with another friend's leaving party (Brstol Tim was going to work in San Francisco), and the venue turned out to be another old friend, a bar that has changed names more than Prince, but which has a great location just off Regent St.
Sadly Ben & Steve couldn't make it (Pricey was on 'Poppy Watch', Steve was swanning around being 'unemployed' in NYC, tough life!), nor could any of the reliably unreliable Suffolk Legends, but it was great to see Tim, H, Mark & Rob, thanks guys!
The bar was very noisy (perfect for my ear infection!) but good fun, and Rob especially enjoyed the two male stripagrams that showed up half way through ;)
We even managed to squeeze in a couple of games of "Killer" on a darts board on the way home somewhere behind the Liberty's department store, and this time I managed not to dislocate someone's thumb... sorry Ste! In fairness on that occassion I had just downed a bottle of port!
Tim & I shared a taxi home to Barnes, which was a great way to see a bit of London at night, even if I was rather tipsy and we could have been travelling home via Baghdad for all I knew.
It was a really good night, so thanks again for coming out to play boys ;)
I'd played it well, drunk for the second night running, and a nice hangover before Sven & Milly's wedding tomorrow. Well worth it though.
Oh well, at least I don't have to get up early for work tomorrow like the rest of them!
lots of love,
Al & Katie xx
