We had a nice sleep in then Al got breakfast for us & we packed and left our luggage with the hotel concierge and went to see the Nishiki- dori food market. To get there we had to walk through the shopping arcades we have visited before. These arcades, the Shinkyogoku and Teramachi are about 1,5 and 1km long respectively and have high roofs over the pedestrian shopping street, but there are lots of different buildings making up the arcade and even a few temples dotted about.
Apart from quite a few Pachinko slot machine stores which we think are games machines rather than gambling slots, but people seem to win what looks like ball bearings and you often see small shopping style baskets piled around the successful players
The food market is an extension of a third arcade and again it was fascinating to see the different foods for sale
We then popped into the Udon noodles restaurant from a dinner or two ago and each had just their vegetable tempura, that looks like a rosti potato, and then onto the sushi conveyor belt place for some last sushi. We took a taxi to the station and are about to depart on the Haruka train which is the Kensai (Osaka) airport express train.
There is pretty much solid development the entire way from Kyoto to Osaka.
We arrived at Kensai airport and went straight to check-in and went through customs to do a bit of duty free shopping. What a disappointment. There are very few shops and the actual duty-free shops dont have much at all so that is why you are getting an update of the blog. We are sitting having a beer and coke and some hot chips in case our dinner is gross and keeping up in things. Al is having a last look at the nice legs here as these girls wear the shortest skimpiest mini-skirts you have ever seen, but thats where his interest stops!!!
We are boarding in 15 minutes so will catch up with you all when we are in Aussie land!!!
