Day 10 brings us to Simon's Town and it's penguin colony; then down to the Cape of Good Hope National Park. Boulder's Beach in Simon's Town brought us the first chance to sit on the beach and soak up the sun. It was still a little chilly, but the sun was bright and we enjoyed it after a few days of overcast skies and rain. The penguin colony was great. There were so many penguins on the beach just roaming around. I had never seen penguins outside of a zoo and never that close. They were so cute!

The Cape of Good Hope National Park was truly amazing! We were able to drive through the park all the way down to Cape Point. If you look at the Cape Peninsula on a map you'll see that at the tip there is Cape point on the western side and the Cape of Good Hope on the eastern side. We started by climbing Cape Point. It was an easy climb, and the views were amazing. It was a nice day so the views were very clear and the pics turned out great!

After climbing Cape Point, we drove over to the Cape of Good Hope, which is apparently the southern most point of Western Africa. We saw found some interesting friends on the way! Once we arrived, we climbed to the top and witnessed some great views. To be at the top surrounded by such beautiful views and hearing the waves crashing was a once in a lifetime experience.

After visiting the Cape, we planned to head to the winelands back near Cape Town. We were running a little late after a full day so ended up staying in Betty's Bay - a tiny little town in the bay. We found a backpacker's lodge in our coast to coast book and arrived late. We were the only guests since it was the middle of the week and off season. But they were so nice and accomodating. We had dinner at the only restaurant in town, which was wonderful and one of the best meals we had. It's amazing how things turn out when they don't seem to be working out - I mean Chapman's peak was closed so we changed our plans, which ultimately led us to Betty's Bay. Without that, we would have never found Betty's Bay or Bayside Lodge and the beautiful scenic drive we discoverd the next day - stay tuned.
