We took off from JFK on June 14th and arrived in Johannesburg (J'burg to the locals) after a stopover in Dakar on Sunday, June 15th. We are staying at a bed and breakfast in Melville (neighborhood considered "nice" in travel guides). It's winter here so a little chilly - and already dark by 5:30 PM. We were advised not to go out after dark for safety precautions. Not sure how I feel about that. But we listened, so our first night was spent in our room eating pizza. Hopefully things will pick up.
