Okay kids. Here's how it played out.

I couldn't be all forthcoming and stuff with the last blog. Because if certain friends and family read the news via travel blog, we would be made into mince. Which, again, looks like meat jam, and is not something I would like to resemble. So yes. Now that the IMPORTANT people have been let know finally.....

YESTERDAY. Remember in last Blog, I talked about Dawson Falls being all nice and magical and sentimental and junk?? Yeah. That's because I got engaged there. YAAAAAYYYY!!! Okay. So here's the story because I know every fairy tale freak is dying to hear it. And I gotta admit. It's pretty damned precious and cute.

So heading down Mt. Taranaki we stop at Dawson Falls, which is on the downside of the mountain. You have to walk through the most beautiful green movie style forest you've ever seen. I was in awe just walking to the damned thing. We get there, and it's the most gorgeous sight I've ever seen. Cascading waterfall, palms, bright green and unbelievable. I'm down at the base of it (remember, NZ = no idiot barriers), and I'm staring at this amazing wonder of nature, awed by the elegance and wonder of it. Shenan is behind me, and I turn around and tell him that it's not only the most beautiful thing he's shown me yet, but it's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I turn back around to revel in it's beauty, and he's got my hand, and he says, "Amber Krause"....., and spins me around. I look back, and he's on one knee. "... will you marry me?" Well, of course. First instinct. "Are you serious???" LOL Well, once he convinced me that he was, indeed, serious.... of course, I start shaking like a homo in a hotdog factory and the water works start and I begin face leaking like a 2 year old who's just watched her Teddy Ruxpin doll get eaten by the family dog. Of course, I said no. LMAO JUST KIDDING!!! I blubber out a "yes" and the rest is history. Happiest day of my life thusfar. Oh, and he gave me a rock. And I'm not kidding when I say, A ROCK. (no, not a muscle bound, tanned up samoan wrestler.... although I would have accepted that as well....), He gave me a pumice stone that he had picked out earlier on the side of Mt. Taranaki to balance out the camera. Long story involving how a certain penguin will give the other penguin a pebble, and if they accept it then they're mated for life.... yadda yadda yadda, I'll do it for you, "AAAAAWWWWWW".... It was totally impromtu, he didn't plan it or anything, said it just seemed like the perfect moment, and something in his heart told him to do it. Perfection. Couldn't have asked for anything more perfect.

So we kept it underwraps until we could talk to the rents, and the sisters and brother, and the Hoose and Herlihy.... LMAO!! Exciting! We spent this morning on the phone of course, and then spent the afternoon looking for a ring.  Ring shopping is quite interesting. Salespeople are funny when you tell them what you're looking for, and they show you the exact opposite and tell you how much better it is than what you actually wanted. Mostly because it's $3000 more than what you actually wanted. "No, madam salesperson. I am not interested in a ring with 18 bazillion diamonds that looks like something you can order out of the Avon catalogue. But thanks for the offer."  But we found the most perfect ring I've ever seen in my life, and as it turns out, was one of the first rings we looked at, at the first place we looked. No frills, small, simple suspended solitaire on white gold, can see the whole diamond from the side.... <3  LOVE IT. Had to send it away to be resized, so hopefully it'll be back by the time I head back to the frozen barracks of Canada.... in 2020.... LMAO JK! OK since it's been the first question asked by MULTIPLE PEOPLE today.... YES I'm still coming back to Canada. And we'll suss out the details later. :-)

So I made my new fiance dinner tonight, which he loved.... at least he said he did like any good man who wants to keep his balls would.... LMAO! Hey, it was goat cheese, herb & sundried tomato stuffed chicken breasts followed with hokeypokey icecream drizzled with icewine and topped with mango chunks.... he has no damned reason to complain about this Canadian Delight's culinary prowess... this lady was raised to cook!!! Good Ukrainian and German background! And the big birthin' hips to prove it! LMAO!

So yeah. Big exciting couple of days!!! Thanks to everyone for the well wishes, and we love you all! Oh and Happy Mother's Day mommy, and Happy Birthday Dad!! I got you a new son-in-law! He's short, brown and funny as hell. SUPRISE! And no, he doesn't come with a return receipt. Two Kiwis in the Walchuk family. Whodathunk!?
