As many of you know, I'm taking a break from the working world to visit unique places and cool people. Step one was a great summer (2007) on the eastern seabord

I started out with a month in the Outer Banks (OBX) & Myrtle Beach.

I spent a ton of time learning how to windsurf the incredible waters of Pamlico Sound, NC. With its strong winds, shallow waters, and protected inlets, the OBX is one of the world's best places for water sports. Below are pictures of me getting the basics of windsuring and one of the many sandbars that help make the OBX a unique destination.

Being in such a tremendous destination makes for unplanned encounters with friends. FOTO RIGHT: Hung out with my old UNC pal Joe Peele and his wife in Va Veach. FOTO LEFT: I ran into Peace Corps buddy Tim Jones as well as UNC pal Joe Matelis with his wife Jessica. Here we are on Ocracoake Island.

I was lucky enough to get over to Chapel Hill for a day to see the Joyners (Dr. Ben and his wife Becka) at their fat RTP pad. Of course no trip is complete without a visit to campus.

My cousin Joe and I were able to climb Old Rag (VA/DC) at the end of the summer. Exhausting but worth the views!

Had the luck to hang out with Cedric Reynolds & JW Williams (both entrepreneurs from HBS 1999) in Miami. Also saw the Canes whip Tex A&M at an ESPN featured Thurs nite game at the Orange Bowl.

I also hung out with Irwin Hurts on the Intracoastal down in West Palm Beach. Irwin is a WWII Vet & retired executive who has served in 3 Peace Corps countries and has broken  hearts all around the world !!!

Had the privilege to meet up with: GJ & Carla Harrison in Myrtle Beach (pictured on the left are their kids Stuart and Melinda), and met up with Ernie "Good Looks" Liang in Newport. Ernie was voted 'best looking' and 'most likely to succeed' in high school, college (MIT), and grad school (Harvard)
