No dramas, no worries

I've made in up the East Coast. I can't believe that this part is over. I've loved the East Coast, tons of good memories, but I'm ready to head down to Alice Springs which is in the middle of Australia, then up to Darwin, the far north where I will start my West Coast adventures. In August I stayed overnight in 15 different cities (Brisbane to Cairns). I now know the true meaning of dirty clothes...when everything is covered in a layer of dirt and all your clothes actually look dirty, I found a washing machine just in time.
I'm in a time warp, I think for me 3.5 days is equal to 1 week just because I'm moving at such a fast pace. I'm constantly looking at the date on my watch. I can't believe it's the beginning of September. September 1st was the first day of spring here :) I hope the fall will be a good one back home, I heard that summer wasn't so good. So many people that I talk to have no idea what I'm talking about I mention fall, it's autumn here.
We've been extremely lucky with roommates in our hostels, no one scary as of yet. I'm still going to keep my fingers crossed. There has only been one dodgy hostel along the way (Geez I'm picking up UK/Australian words, I think that some of their slang and words are very similar). The room smelled like it hadn't been occupied for years, it was dirty and we heard mice in the ceilings...not a pleasant sound when you are trying to sleep. Speaking of mice, when we left our large backpacks in storage during our sailing trip. Fiona's bag was attacked by mice or some crazy Australian rodent or animal, 3 large holes, luckily tape is holding it together at the moment. Never leave food in your bags here. There are some crazy things over here. Apparently, its happened where a kangaroo has 'grabbed' a person by the shoulders and kicked the person's chest open. A cassowary (like an ostrich) can jump and kick a person open :( That stuff could probably happen. Australian seem to like to tell some crazy stories. I found a bird that is uglier than a seagull...the imis, I have a picture.
There are no good beaches up here. I think the last one was in the Town of 1770. All the beaches up north are mud flats, except for the city Mission Beach which had a nice one, but it was covered in worms. I had no idea that worms liked the ocean.
Even though I'm here in Australia and should be trying the different wines down, all we ever drink is boxed wine...so cheap. And the times I do have the real stuff I really don't know what I'm drinking. Too much red in one night definitely leads to a massive headache the next day. Australians don't seem to be much into the whole recycling trend at least not if you don't live in a house. I throw everything away. They do strongly suggest binning your butts because of the animals.
We went to a Crocodile farm, where I was able to hold a small one and a few snakes...no big ones :( The strangest part was that we ate croccobobs after the tour. It reminded me of an ad that I saw where you can take a camel to dinner. Meaning you ride the camel to a place where you watch the sunset, then ride back for dinner where camel is served as the main entree. I still have to try vegemite again after several years... I just can't overcome the smell.
I finally made it to the cinema to catch a movie. We saw Lady Killers, which I would not recommend. It was suppose to be a comedy, but there was too much effort in trying to make it funny. It's pretty slow time in terms of travellers at the moment, I've noticed that in the past 2-3 weeks that a lot of places such as hostels and buses are really quiet.
I'm off to plan my diving adventures on the Great Barrier Reef :) I'm soooo excited!
