I made it to Malaysia, on my third continent so far! Hard to believe that I am literally on the other side of the world to home. The time difference here is exactly 12 hours, which makes figuring out what time it is at home pretty easy! I arrived on Monday morning 27 Oct around 9:30. I have spent the past two days catching up with my friend, Erick Wood, from high school and I think we figured out that besides a couple of phone calls and Facebooking we actually have not seen each other in more than 5 years! Craziness. He was nice enough to let me stay with him here since he has a hotel room while here playing percussion with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. It has been a lot of fun and for me, a chance to relax and not feel like I have to be on the go all day long. Kuala Lumpur is an interesting city and I have see a good bit walking around, but the biggest thing I have noticed so far is the plethora of shopping malls. Two days and I'm already burned out!
Yesterday while Erick was practicing I went up to the Skybridge between the twin towers of the Petronas Towers. These are the tallest twin towers in the world at 452 meters! It was quite a view of KL, but I want to go up in the KL Tower tomorrow across town so that I can see the Petronas Towers. Hard to see them when you're inside of them. I enjoyed the visit though. That was after yesterday morning when we took a taxi together to the Batu Caves just outside of the city. They were home to many temples, a GIANT golden statue and adorable monkeys galore! They came right down to the tourists too and enjoyed the bananas people were throwing to them.
Today has been a blah-ish day as I have not even left the hotel room yet, but I am still figuring out my next steps in Australia and hey!, I had some blogging to catch up on too!
Lots of love!
