The approach to Fiji was pretty cool as you could see all the little islands spread out beneath you.

When we got into the airport we were to be greeted by someone from the resort we were staying at so they could tell us where to go and what to do etc. But, no one turned up. So we didn't know what to do. We found someone else who knew a bit about the resort we were to stay at and she even let me ring the lady Vinnie had booked through and spoken to over the phone about 4 times. She pretended not to know me. We say the funny side of it later over a few drinks but at the time, we were not very happy. She must have forgotten to book for us and was embarrassed to admit it.

So anyway, we managed to get to go somewhere else, although it wasn't in the island group we had originally planned for. We wanted to go to the Yasawa Islands, a more isolated group off the north west of the main island, but in all the messing around we had missed the only boat of the day. So we ended up going to the closer Mamanuca Group and staying in a resort called Walu Beach, which was pretty nice. There was some great snorkelling off the beach with loads of coral and we did some sailing and kayaking. We even managed to get our sail boat stuck on a coral reef and Vinnie had to hop out of the boat to get it moving again. We laughed so much that we nearly did it again.

The weather was gorgeous and we spent most of the time just lazing about drinking cocktails by the pool and eating the great food they made for us, which was included in the room price. Little bargain. Its kinda hard not to relax here, something about the place just makes you chill out without even realising it. We had all the time in the world to do absolutely nothing and it was great.

And, as you can see from the photo's, the place is absolutely stunning. Turquoise waters, beautiful beaches, blue skies and deserted islands. Paradise. Our island looked like the one in that TV show Lost. You almost expect a dinosaur or something to jump out of the bushes at you, but that didn't happen thank God!! Although maybe it could have if I had drank enough Kava. We had a Kava ceremony one of the nights. Kava is a non-alcoholic drink that they all have as a substitute for beer or whatever. Its meant to have hallucinogenic properties but the only thing it did to me was make me want to go asleep!! I slept like a log that night.

We'll miss the warm weather now for a while. It's off to New Zealand with us...
