So on Tuesday, we had an early start, catching the 8.15am flight to Melbourne.  We are staying with a friend of Maybelline's - Angela - they worked together in the Mercantile Bar and Angela moved to Melbourne about 2 years ago.

Melbourne is a lovely city and alot different to Sydney.  I think Melbourne would see itself as a bit more classy than Sydney but to be honest, I didn't get the same buzz here  than I got in Sydney.  It just doesn't seem as happy and chilled out as Sydney is.  But it is a lovely city with lovely architecture and buildings and lots and lots of weird and strange public art - just appearing everywhere and out of nowhere.  We spent the day touring round the city before making our way out to St Kilda to meet Angela and where we were staying.  We also seen where the Formula One Grand Prix is being set up for the first race of 2008 but wont be here to actually see it.

St Kilda is a beach suburb of Melbourne and its a lovely place - lot of backpackers and tourists and cafes and bars-  really nice.  Met with Angela and went for something to eat and back to hers for a catch up.

Yesterday - Wednesday - was a clinker of a day - 30degrees - so it was beach time again.  The beach here is so calm  - no surf - so great for swimming.  We sizzled on the beach all day - actually I could hardly drag myself away from it.  That night we had a real treat - went to the open air cinema.  This was just class!!!  At 7pm we went to the roof terrace of the local sea baths, bought our bottles of wine, found our seats and watched the sun set over the water before the movie started at 8pm - just after sunset.  It was amazing and when I get the pictures on you will see what I mean.  Then just laid back on our seats and bean bags and watched Amercian Gangster - which was a very good movie indeed.

Today, we are heading back to Sydney for the weekend before heading off again on our travels up the east coast.
