SOOOO.... I made it to Hong Kong!  After a one hour delay on the airplane in Heathrow - where there was a fuelling technicality (no need to panic then) I landed in Hong Kong on Sunday morning at 9am.  It was a long, long flight but there was great entertainment onboard and I had the pleasure of sitting beside a wannabe rock star from Melbourne who had just completed his first tour in the UK.  If he becomes famous, he will give me tickets to his first tour in Ireland..... but I'm not holding my breath on that one.!
The hotel is just fantastic with amazing views over Victoria Harbour.  Its 40 stories and I'm on the 25th.  On Sunday night I headed out for a "Night of Delights" tour which included a tour down Hong Hong's golden mile.  The lights are unreal - if anyone recalls the trailer that Channel 4 runs for itself showing the number 4 in different landmarks, they do one in Hong Kong and it is exactly like that.  Then I headed to Temple Street Night Market - Omagh on a Monday morning it is not!  They sell everything here - and I mean everything - from Snake Soup to Turtle Stew, Fish that I never heard tell off and then on the next stall - sex toys - then on the next stall - children's toys.  And fortune tellers everywhere - I didn't take the chance with them.
After that we went to the largest floating restaurant in the world - "Jumbo" and I had an 8 course traditional chinese banquet.  When in Hong Kong do what they do in Hong Kong and I ate the local specialities - including crab, cuttlefish and garuope.  I'll let you figure them out.!!! But it was all delicious.  Then it was onto a late night view of Hong Kong from Victoria Peak - the highest mountain in Hong Kong.

Monday morning was an early start and today I headed out to Aberdeen which was where Hong Kong originally started as a small fishing village.  Here I seen how the local fishermen still lived on their small wooden boats, very poor but seemingly very happy.  Then it was out to the countryside and to the beaches off the South China Sea.  Absolutely beautiful but I didn't take a dip as there was a shark sighting a few weeks ago - didn't want risking a limb just yet!!!  Got a facial in the evening time and I'm telling you about this because it was fantastic - the way the therapist moved and the lotions and potions and her chanting to you while she worked - she had me sleeping inside 10 minutes and it done me the world of good for the jet lag - which has been killing me slowly.
So today I'm going out cruising round the harbour and I'm going back for some reflexology this evening before I catch my flight to Oz.  Not sure if I'm going to be able to get photos on this today but I will soon.
