Well Edmonton was an experience.
Firstly I managed to get Stacey enthusiastic about the Tim Horton game that Jessica and I started - she took to it very quickly and I had to be on my toes...... Secondly, the main purpose for out 2 day visit to Edmonton was to watch George, (Gwen, a friend of Stacey's boyfriend) in a Natural Body Building competition. After leaving Lloydminister not long after we returned from the Calculus class, we arrived just after 6pm. We found Gwen and as George was starving himself (what they put themselves through for these competitions is incredible) Gwen, Stacey and I headed for Boston Pizza - they have very good spinach dip if anyone is interested - and ate dinner before returning to the hotel to find Arleen had arrived and George was in 'very nervous' mode. He did do a strip down for us though as a practice run - he should have gone for the pink trunks though. The navy just didn't do him justice.
Saturday was an early start as we had to pick up the show tickets and drive across town to the West Edmonton Mall. Well what can I say about the Mall - It is like a city in its own right. Not too sure what I would put up the top as the most interesting feature - the water park, the largest indoor amusement park with a full roller coaster included, the ice rink, the amazing tongue of the snake into the cinema, Chinatown, the water feature with the seals and the 4 submarines you can go into view the large fish tanks, the fantasy hotel...... Have you noticed I haven't mentioned any shops yet...... there were lots but didn't get into many as we spent so long visiting all the other attractions. Before we knew it we were running late to get back over the other side of town to the body building competition.
We got there on time alright... and tickets in hand we went in..... and what a site. Body Building isn't really my thing but the show was interesting to watch. Some of the bodies were really good others a little over the top.... George won 2 of his categories and came second in the other (incase you were wondering how he got on). We were the cheering team!!! That night was dinner and George ate....a lot!!! When having a few drinks a little closer to the hotel, the waitress was acting as barmaid as the barman had quit and well she needed a little help in putting some of the drinks together - it kept us entertained. However, there was just no convincing her that the BP should open at 9.30 the following morning so I could watch the All Ireland - she was having none of it.
