We left Munich on a rainy day and headed towards the Mad King Ludwig's Neuschwanstein Castle. The castle was cool to see but a little disappointing since King Ludwig tore down a real medieval castle to build his fantasy medieval style castle and he drowned in the lake before completion of the construction and so never even got to live in it.

Crossing into Switzerland by bike along the BodenSee, we were on bike paths the whole way and missed our last chance of crossing a real border! Switzerland has been amazing for having a complete and well signed system of bike paths that cover the whole country.  The bike paths often take you through the small towns and farms and keep you safe and away from the busy highways.

As you might remember from our earlier blogs, we came to Switzerland to visit our friend Matt, who we rode with for a few days in Greece. Matt and his family have welcomed us in their home here in Olten, with our own room and internet access and a soft cozy bed from which we struggle to get up every afternoon .. umm I mean morning.
We have visited the ingenious Open-Air Cinemas, did a 2-day trip on our bikes to the Capital City Bern and the three lakes area west of here and spent a remarkable weekend at their mountain cabin, where we got our first close up experience with a mightly glacier.
Our break week has been truly pleasant, and we are ready to get back on the road with renewed spirits.  Thank you Jaeggi family! :)

Now we head north back into Germany for the much awaited EuropaPark...
