. Before our food arrives we are given some garlic rolls and a container of garlic/basil in oil, garlic really is everywhere at this place. Our food arrives and it really is amazing, the pizza is thin with fresh cherry tomatoes replacing tomato paste and the pasta's were just so tasty we couldn't leave any behind. This restaurant was a great choice and we will be thanking our friends for the recommendation tomorrow when we catch up with them for dinner. We get back on the number 30 bus heading towards fisherman's wharf and change buses at Laguna St where we catch the 28 bus to the Golden Gate Bridge. When we get off the bus, it's breezy and the sun has now disappeared. We walk around learning about the bridge built in 1937 and it's interesting to learn about it's cable span and design, no wonder 9 million people visit this bridge every year. We attempt to walk the bridge and make it a quarter of the way but the kids are too cold and the breeze on the bridge is really strong so we decide to return back to land. We jump back on the 28 bus towards the golden gate park which is 20% bigger than Central park and the third most visited park in the U.S.A for it's museums, playgrounds and beautiful gardens. By the time we get to the park we have about an hour left before it gets dark so we decide to spend it at the first playground we find, this park is huge and we hope to see more of it tomorrow if we have time. We go back to the bus stop to catch bus 71 that will take us back to the city centre only it's delayed and we wait a good 30 minutes until it arrives
. As we get on the almost empty bus it starts to rain and as our bus heads east along the park after a few bus stops, a sea of people board the bus. Only these people seem to know each other and kept wishing each other a happy 420, which we had no idea about. The bus now packed, takes off and we start to notice the group that have boarded are all pot smokers, first indication was the strong odour now reaking the bus, so strong that Lisiana had her hands on her nose, second indication was people were looking into bags of pot, wearing leaves around there neck. As we continue towards the city centre, each bus stop was taking forever, people near the door arguing, people on the bus trying to get off, I decided it would be safest for our family to stay put. Zinije tells me that the two people arguing on the bus, got off and starting fighting but the kids and I didn't see it and the bus left them behind so I wasn't worried. On the streets there are at least 10 cop cars zooming past us, something is going on I just have no idea what. As we make it to market street the bus starts to clear and so does the smell, we get off the bus at 5th Ave and return to our hotel and I google 420 to find out what was going on around Golden Park. It turns out 420 is unofficially national dopers day, which means on the 20th of April = 4/20 at 4:20pm, all the pot smokers in the U.S.A get together to protest the legalisation of marijuana.
As we get up this morning we are expecting it to rain, only the sun is out with blue skies, I jump online and it seems the forecast has changed and there won't be any rain during the day. After a great breakfast we head to Westfield to treat the kids to a film at the cinema's, their choice the animated movie Rio. It was a great movie, very entertaining with a good story line and both Arion and Lisiana were glued to the big screen the entire time. We then catch the number 30 bus to the Italian district North Beach to try some food at a restaurant recommended by some old friends of ours called 'The Stinking Rose'. As soon as we walk in the smell hits you immediately, garlic bulbs hanging off the ceiling like streamers and what ever the chef's are cooking it definitely has garlic. We get seated to our table and Arion is asking lots of questions about garlic, why does it smell? Why is it in our foods? I try my best to explain as we order a Margherita pizza, angel hair pasta and ravioli with potato and cheese
