As we hit the San Francisco streets today, the forecast is partly cloudy with a top of 63 degrees = 17 degrees celsius. We decide to head out to Pier 31 today and buy our tickets to visit Alcatraz, we tried online but they were sold out and we were told our best chance is to try directly at the ticket booth at Pier 31. We catch the F Street Car down market street towards pier 31, it's crowded but we still manage to get on, the history of this tram is amazing, it dates back to 1948 and was originally used in Philadelphia. When we reach the Alcatraz ticket booth, we manage to get some of the last tickets for Thursday, which is our last day in San Francisco. From Pier 31 we walk towards the Fisherman's wharf at pier 39, this area is more touristy and has all the big name restaurants such as Hard Rock Cafe. We have lunch at the Bubba Gump restaurant created from the movie Forrest Gump, it was a lot of fun while we enjoyed our shrimp and the views of the bay. Next we catch bus 39 to visit Coit Tower at Telegraph Hill built in 1933 to beautify the city and provide panoramic views of San Francisco. The views were fantastic, only most of the Golden gate bridge was covered in clouds, which was a shame as the kids really wanted to see it. We walk down the hilly streets of Telegraph Hill towards Washington Square where we spot another playground and allow the kids to have some fun. We then jump onto bus 30 and get off at Russian Hill where we walk a few blocks down Hyde St to see the famous Lombard St, it's a street that has tight bends and is labelled "The Crooked St". When we get there it is croweded with tourists, the kids love it and want walk down, so we do as we watch other tourists in cars attempt to drive down this crazy road. We then decide to walk down the hill all the way to Fisherman's warf at Pier 47 where rest and have the coffee.
