As we're waiting at the bus stop to head for Shanghai's financial district Pudong, I get asked by a nearby salesman if I'm interested in buying cheap watches, bags etc, fake products that are quite common all over Asia.  I tell him I'm not interested, but he ignores me and persists with his sales pitch, so I ignore him and he goes away.  After three different salesman pass by, our bus finally arrives and takes us to Pudong which other than being the main financial district is also surrounded by many residential buildings.  After we cross the famous Huangpu river and start our descend from the bridge on a twirling freeway, our kids spot an outdoor playground with excitement. ZInije and I notice it's not a common playground we're used to back home, it has a monkey bar elevated at least 20 metres in the air.  We tell the kids we'll have to skip the park unfortunately as we're on the way to aquarium.  We continue towards the financial district, the skyscrapers are just amazing and to think 15 years ago this area was empty.  As we exit the bus, the Pearl Oriental Tower is the first building we see, this area is buzzing with tourists like us to visit the aquarium, shoppings malls, restaurants and sky towers.   We visit the aquarium and our kids are the centre of attention again, as  locals ask for pictures or try to pat them, a behaviour which is very uncommon back in Melbourne.  Next we check out the shopping mall, I notice Zinije has a big grin on her face,  as many of her favourite stores from Europe and U.S.A are here. The Mall is huge, it's 8 levels high and I start thinking how we're going to explore this place with the kids and decide to take them to Toys R Us while I leave Zinije to shop around a little.  We then decide to visit the Pearl Oriental sky tower which allows us to view the city at 350 meters high, the kids loved it.  Other than the obvious which is the towers awesome view, there was an arcade and roller coaster as well.  As we leave the Pearl Tower we notice it is now dusk and the skyscrapers are starting to light up, we enjoy the beautiful sight as we head for the river bank for a better view and then catch the ferry to cross the river and head back to the hotel.
