After a hearty Chinese/Continental breakfast, we head for the streets of Shanghai starting off with the surrounding area of our hotel Nanjing Rd, which is famous for its mile long shopping strip. First thing I notice is the crisp air, but it was quite pleasant walking around in the sun, which allowed us to enjoy the amazing architecture in Shanghai
. Nanjing Rd ends at the Bund river which is famous for Shanghai's skyline, this is where Lisiana was being approached by quite a few locals who were pating her and wanting photo's, after being a little embarrassed Lisana returns to being her friendly self and starts posing for her 5 minutes of fame. We decide to have some lunch at the bund where we enjoy local cusine and then straight after jump on a city tour bus to explore this massive city a little better.
When return to our hotel to freshen up for Zinije's b'day dinner, we notice there is a chocolate cake in our room, Zinije looks at me and asks "is this from you", unfortunately I could not take the credit as there was a card from the hotel wishing Zinije a Happy b'day. It was a nice surprise and very thoughtful from the hotel and a great way to end our first full day in Shanghai.
Happy Birthday Zinije!!
After a great nights rest, we woke up to a beautiful sunny day with not a cloud in sight, the forecast for the day is10 degrees. The kids are bubbling with energy, one because they are well rested and two because it's Zinije's B'day. They are also are very hungry due to the 3 hour time zone difference, so we decide to go down to our hotel restaurant before they start to attack our mini bar. As we walk into the restaurant for breakfast, we are greeted by the staff with a "Bonjour", I pause for a moment wondering why I've received a French greeting in China....I'm sure the answer to reveal itself at some point.
