All in all we had a very smooth start to our world trip.  As soon as we got to the airport it was all about getting on the plane for our kids, especially Arion.  I had pre-explained the process of security and immigration to the kids, but for them it was all just taking too long.  When we got to our gate #12 in the new international section of Melbourne airport, passengers had just started to queue.  And then, after no announcement they opened the doors and just started allowing people to board the plane, which caused a mad rush of people trying to push in and board the plane.  Arion had his eye on the prize (to finally get on that plane) and he wasn't going to let anyone else push in and kept extremely close to the person in front of him.  We get in the plane and I notice it's an old A330, it only had shared tv screens and with a 10 hour flight in front of us it's a good thing we came prepared for the kids, as the movies were all in Chinese with subtitles.   Our plane finally makes it to the runway and takes off, our kids are giggling with excitement as they wave good bye to Melbourne for a couple of Months.
We managed to get through the first 7 hours quite well, although Lisiana still managed to go the toilet at least 10 times in that period, but this is nothing new for her especially when we are out and about.  The last 3 hours were the tough ones, kids were getting tired, a little uncomfortable and kept asking "Are we there yet",  "How much longer".   Even Zinije and I weren't feeling the best, both suffering with fairly bad headaches.  We start to descend and I almost throw up, which is unusal for me as I don't normally get sick, but I guess it's just one of those days.  We finally land in a wet Shanghai and the temperature in 7 degrees and local time is 6:44pm, for us it's really 9:44pm.  As soon we got out of plane the cold air hit's my face I start to feel better, we pass through immigration and customs without any dramas.  I had pre-organized a car service to pick us up, which meant we didn't have to queue up for a taxi or worry if we could communicate to the driver.  As our driver is taking us to the hotel, it is very quiet in the car,  there is no more giggling, no more chit chat, we are all exausted.  We get to the hotel and wow Shanghai is a beautiful city at night, I can't wait to explore this place.  We wake Arion and tell the kids we are finally here!!
