Ciao!
I'm sorry it's been a while since I last wrote. There wasn't much interesting stuff going on anyways. Classes have started, so wandering time has pretty much dwindled down to attempting different routes going home from class.
My classes are so interesting. Villa and Gardens, we go around Firenze and Tuscany looking at villas and gardens (go figure). But it's from a architectural point of view, as well as some botany aspects. I can't wait to go to some major places and take pictures. Italian class is actually fun! He talks to us in Italian first (making motions to help) then if we don't understand we say "I don't understand" in italian (I can't spell it right now w/o my book). So it's actually fun because you feel better about yourself when you do get something, you want to learn more. Eventually he'll be sending us into the markets to talk to people (after we talk to italian students/actors first). Architecture in Context is kind of like a sketching/studio thing, we get to travel in that one too. Vasari's Lives of Florentine Masters seems pretty neat, we're basically running all over the city looking at works of art and architecture. Studio is fun, I'm excited to work with Carlo & Evellyn and learn what I can from them. Maybe I'll find a nitch.
Studio look like a palace. I'll take pictures of it soon. It's so beautiful. We walked through the city walls (literally a wall around the city) to San Miniato al Monte. So beautiful. We sat in on a special mass being held in the crypt. I sketched it out, so maybe I'll scan that and post it up. I have pictures. But as I'm writing this in studio, I don't have the adaptor for my camera. So I'll post it later.
As a reminder, I posted pictures up for majority of the entries. So check those out when you get a chance. I bought a little book today to write in while we go on trips for the weekend. We have one coming up this weekend. Dana, Kara, and Ashley set it up so I don't have that many details to give right now. But this book is amazing. It's like a sketchbook, but it's bound in red italian leather, and has the florentine crest on it. I had to get it. She makes bigger ones...but I'm going one step at a time with my small budget. I'll post up more pictures maybe tomorrow? I'll try. Definately before we go on this trip!
But it's getting late, it's 10:00pm here and Erin and I need to walk from the end of the Uffizi to Palazzo Vecchio (near our apartment) for an assignment before we hit the sack, along with some reading we have to do. So I will talk to you all later! I'm working on getting a headset for Skype. I'll let you know if I find a decently priced one later.
Buenonotte! (goodnight)
