Buongiorno!
Well I've been in Firenze for 2 days now. Today we had
orientation from 9 til 5, it was so hard to stay awake. I thought I'd be okay
with jet lag - ha no, I wasn't. I was fine yesterday, I went to bed at about
12:30am and died. The beds are surprisingly comfortable for mattresses on cots!
We got up today at 8:00 for our orientation and then came home at for lunch at
the bistro downstairs (literally). We ordered mini-pizzas, this was the better
kind found in Italy! She gave it to us for 2.50€ and it's so convenient, not to
mention the bruschetta looks soooo good. I have yet to try it. We took our food
up to the apartment and then slept for an hour before we had to go back to
Piazza Rucellai (school) for more orientation.
A Polizia (police man) came in and spoke to us. He sounded
so funny (naturally since English is his second or third language). He was very
honest and blunt in his comments and stories. But he pranced around the room
during his speech like he was trotting on a high horse. However, he was very
funny and liked to crack jokes. Another two ladies came in and spoke with us,
telling us the same things over and over. But. For some people you can't drill
it in enough. But it was done at 5:00, then Erin and I went to pick up a
prepaid phone for each of us. We opted for the pre-paid that way we wouldn't go
home and get a ridiculous bill on our credit card. Besides, it'll help us keep
the number of calls down. Sorry, calls are expensive! It's pretty nice and
actually cheaper than most. However, she never activated it? So we have to walk
back there t'mar.
I love walking. It helps me sleep at night and then it's
just a lot of exercise. We have been talked about something in the sounds of
"Americans always in a hurry." Then tonight Kelly and I heard bagpipes through
our window and we went to check it out, and walking back from taking pictures
of the Ponte Vecchio two men/boys stopped in the middle of the side walk and
tried to block/stop us and we just walked through them ignoring them, just as
the polizia had told us to. The screamed "Mi Amour!" then when we didn't answer
they yelled "ffaaaccckkkaaa youuu!" haha. Oh man. Interesting!
Well I'm getting up at 8:00 again tomorrow so I can go into
school early and post my travel logs, check my mail, and send a few messages as
well.
I hope all is well in the States! I miss and love you all!
Ciao!
