After much hullaballooo we had our Holden Captiva ... We were expecting a Jeep... And the hire company were not forthcoming!!!
Gps in hand suitcases in and we intrepidly took off up the road in Washington DC!!!! Steve became used to the lhs drive car and driving on rhs very quickly but thank god for Mary-Lou our ever faithful GPS!!!
Heading out of Washington DC we hit the open road and headed north to Gettysburg.
We dont like staying on the open big roads so went the back blocks and low and behold came across the battle fields of Gettysburg!!!!
At 3pm on 3rd July 1863 the battle began
Gettysburg is a quaint little place with lots of houses like dollshpuses!
We travelled to Harrisburg and when I saw 'HERSHEY' I thought now is that THE Hershey as in Chocolate????? YES IT IS!!!!
Omg!!! We rolled into town and here was this biggest amusement park and six roller coaster rides the biggest I have ever seen!!! Driving around we saw the chimneys of the chocolate factory but it was 6pm too late it was closed!!! So we found Simmons Hotel and checked in. Its not the Willard by any means but its homely and a comfy bed at three quarters less!!!! So Steve and I ventured down the Hershey Highway...yes there is such a road....! And found an italian/grilll come bar place. It was cheap and yummy!!!
Back to the hotel and to plan on tomorrows adventures!!! Btw we left Washington at 1.30 pm and arrived here in Hershey just on 7.00 pm!!!!
Not bad for 400 km!
