An 8am start meant that we should have loads of time on our hands for the ride down to Albuquerque today, and an early finish.  But it seemed to be just one of those days when time slips away unnoticed and you end up late.  Well, when I say late we were still in the hotel by 5pm.

We took our last high pass today at 10,500ft before dropping back down to around 7000 as we dropped into New Mexico and crossed the Rio Grande, possibly one of the most known rivers in the US.  Brunch was in Taos and what a feed it was too, $10 including tip for a heck of a feed.

As we rounded Santa Fe the heavy dark clouds we had been watching for a while opened and dropped a heavy shower of rain and even hail on us.  Hardly what you'd expect in New Mexico at the end of June!!!  Riding along at 55mph getting peppered by hailstones is bloody painful.  Another heavy downpour hit us again just before Albuquerque and we were pretty glad to get in off the road this evening.
