I'm writing this entry in the business office in our hotel.  We've been here for 2 days now... and we're still getting used to how things are done here. We've mostly hung around Nusa Dua - the so called "Beverly Hills" of Bali.  It's extremely posh here and very polished.  I'm still very impressed with the hotel we're staying at - Melia Bali.

Strangely enough, I'm still recovering from the 22 hour trip getting over here - the trip here really kicked my ass.  So, we mostly hung out at the beach - relaxing, reading, talking to some of the honeymooners on the beaches. We also ventured out to a few more shops and stores around and in Nusa Dua. Exciting stuff.  Of course, everyone thinks I'm a local dude and they start speaking to me in Indonesian.  Haha... But the great thing about looking like a local is it's making it easier for me to pick up on some of the phrases they use.

One glaring thing that we've had trouble reconciling with is the idea of this place being cheap. I've talked to numerous friends of mine that have lived or visited here and they've all said how dirt cheap it was over here.  Are we missing something?!?!?  So far, we've spent quite a sum of money for the 2 days we've stayed here.  I dont know if its because we're just dining and shopping at areas where most tourists go, therefore its slightly over priced... or if these are the prices we should be paying at everywhere in Bali.  I'm not sure. 50 U.S. dollars for meals is a bit pricey considering all the things people have said about this place.

With that said, I sent an email to a good friend of mine, Devi, who's been very helpful with regards to our trip here in Bali.  Hopefully, she can shed some insight on this money thing.

Highlight: Angela ordered a pizza that was served with ants... Fun times!!
Lowlight: Paying an absorbant amount of money for said ant pizza... not so fun times.
