We embarked on the cruise today!! For the next 4 days, I will be on a Mediterranean Cruise to Mykonos, Turkey, Patmos, Rhodes, Knossos, and Santarini. We left the Artemis at 7:00am and headed to the port. We made it through security and got onto the boat around 9:00am. I roomed with Stephanie and Laura I. in room 247. It was a small room with bunk beds. We had a great time in there though. We couldn't unpack yet since they brought our luggage to the room, so a group of us began to explore the boat, the Aegean 1. The Aegean Sea was so pretty and clear, it was a beautiful day to start sailing. We sat on one of the decks and played our own version of charades. It was so funny to see people act out things, as well as look at the other passengers faces. The majority of the passengers were in their forties and up. We were the youngest people on the boat and definitely added some excitement to the cruise. After sailing for a few minutes, we had the life jacket and safety check. Almost the entire group was in the same muster station, so we had a good time hanging out in the life jackets and goofing around while we were checked off
Our first stop was Mykonos. It took around five hours to get there. In Mykonos, we had to use tender boats to dock, so it took a while to get off. We finally made it to land and walked around the islands. We went to the famous windmills which were beautiful. There are around six old windmills up on a hill from the city. We walked through little Venice to get to there. The sunset was amazing. It was so pretty to see the sunset looking out onto the sea. The windmills made it that much more beautiful. After the sunset, we walked around the town. Mandy and I did a little shopping, but really just enjoyed walking around the island. The roads and pathways could get kind of confusing because they were built to protect the town from Pirates, so everything was zig zagged and dead ended in places. I am getting a better sense of direction and was able to successfully navigate our way around the city. The harbor was really pretty with the lights reflecting onto the sea. We went back to the boat and enjoyed dessert up on the deck. Nathan, Mandy, Lindsey, Jeremy and I sat around for over an hour talking about free travel and the trip. We all decided to call it a night and went to bed.
It was a good first day and the sea was very calm and easy sailing for the night.

. We had a bit of trouble shortly after the safety check. When we all went back to our rooms, the luggage had finally made it to our rooms. But, Dani and Mandy discovered that their money and Dani's camera had been stolen. Due to a mishap in security, their carry on bags were sent down and rummaged through. The group came together and collected enough money to replace what had been stolen, plus money for Dani to buy a new camera. It was so neat to see everyone give and help our friends in need.
