Today is Mom and Dad's 21st anniversary (a first). We gave them coffee in bed.

We flew to Bird Island in a small transport polane. It had two seats per row (no aisle). It sat 16 people, including the pilot, and was very noisy. The hotel on Bird Island was right next to the airport, but I don't think it will matter as there is only one flight a day. We just walked to the hotel.

We were greeted by the hotel manager who escorted us to a two-room hut with open porches and half-open rooms. And geckoes! It was fun. After lunch, we went snorkeling. The wind was blowing so hard that we could just float down the beach. At first, Ann and I floated near shore. Then the second time we went out further and saw lots of fish. As we were nearing the place to turn towards shore, we saw a 5 foot sand-shark and a 6 foot (we think) eel-thing swimming with a shark On the plane to Bird Island

Afterwards, we walked to the bird rookery (the island is called Bird Island because of it.) There are two million birds on the island! If we stopped to look, the birds would come hover over our heads -- so close you could have touched them if they didn't fly away.

The sunset was lovely. Ann and Mom sat down to watch it while Dad and I jogged back to the hotel to get the camera. Ann and I did some cartwheels and walkovers in the sand.

PS The birds are sooty terns.
