We have breakfast at the Union Station grille. Much cheaper than at the hotel, and just as good. After breakfast, we visit the Postal Museum -- much more interesting than anticipated. I particularly enjoy seeing the rail cars and film. The exhibit on the dangers of being a postal worker was good, too (e.g., going down with the Titanic).
Took the Metro to Foggy Bottom -- and a Kennedy Center shuttle was waiting. Hopped on, and it departed. Got our tickets efficiently. The performance of Handel's Messiah was wonderful. Very stirring -- though I started to giggle twice - once when the large countertenor, dressed as one of Bond's enemy's henchmen, started to sing in falsetto -- and when we all stood up for the Hallelujah Chorus. Very bizarre, even though I know it's tradition (stupid English king). In any case, enjoyed the experience.
After the matinee, walked into Georgetown. Tried to do a bit of shopping but nothing interesting. Paul did buy a sweater ... to wear right away. Had an early dinner at a Mexican restaurant by the waterfront. Tasty -- particularly the half-priced Margarita.
Tired, so back to the hotel.
