I am noticing though that the further eastward we travel, the closer together things are. I feel like we are starting to re-enter civilization as we know it. Slowly, but we are getting there.
We made a pit stop in the town of Grand Island today. Not sure why it is called Grand Island as it is completely land locked but whatever. I did some on line searching for things to do on our way and found the Island Oasis Water park. Thankfully the weather was nice mid 80's and sunny
We again traveled for 480 miles and have not left Nebraska yet. The travel is long but the highways easy to navigate as they are just flat and straight with a speed limit of 75mph. ( and again I saw some fool getting pulled over- really, at a speed limit of 75?)
The campground is another KOA and is again very nice. We have yet to be disappointed by KOA. Every KOA we stayed in has been top notch. We may change campgrounds tomorrow and try to get another KOA rather than the state park we were supposed to stay in. The kids had a bit of time in the pool before calling it a night. The food supply is dwindling, thankfully, because I did not want to unload it when we got home!
By the way, gas is no cheaper than it is at home. We have seen prices as high as $3.00/gallon. The average is probably around $2.75-2.80. Our average fill up is about $100.00.Yikes!!
Well we continue our trek home tomorrow, passing through Iowa and staying the night in Illinois.
Thanks again for the comments. We love hearing from you.
