Today was another fun day. We took our time in the morning and I packed up a picnic lunch. We stopped to eat on our way into Jackson. Rob and Cara went whitewater rafting and had a blast. Cara was nervous at first but relaxed afer passing over the first set of rapids. Halfway through the trip Rob and Cara moved to the front of the boat to control the paddling. I think they are feeling a little sore. Between horseback riding yesterday and paddling today they could probably use a soak in a hot tub. Maybe there will be one at the next campground.

I went on a float trip with Jenna and Robbie. Robbie was mad at first because he wanted to go on the white water trip but was too young. Our boat moved at a pretty good clip and there were a few splashes over the edge. We saw deer, 4 bald eagles, osprey, blue herons and pelicans. We were on the lookout for moose but had lo luck. It was a beautiful ride. I enjoyed and was not stressed that I or one of the kids would fall put of the boat. ( I have a real fear of the white water.)

We wondered around Jackson for a bit and watched then shootout that is staged on the town square. It was pretty good. Robbie once again jumped in when participants were invited up. He is such a ham! The crowds were too much to deal with at dinner time so we headed back to camp and away from the chaos.

We were all pretty hungry and Rob and I did not feel like cooking. We made it to the campground restaurant just before they stopped serving. Lucky! It was a very nice place , surprisingly . Robbie was happy to find meatloaf on the menu. I was happy to find a huckleberry margarita on the menu! Huckleberries only grow out here and they are so yummy!

We are starting our journey a back tomorrow. I wish we had a couple of more days out here. There is so much to do but very spread out so it takes a long time travel from place to place. For example, it takes 55 minutes to travel from our campsite to the town of Jackson and probably 35 minutes to the entrance of Yellowstone. yellowstone itself takes probably 6 hours to drive the lower loop with stopping briefly at the high points. So different from CT where you are across the state in 2 hours. It really seems like we all live on top of each other back home.
We have a long drive to our next stop, Cheyenne,Wy. It will probably take 7 hours or so. Will try to post pics later. Happy trails!

Gramgerry & Papa on

Sounds like you had a very memorable 4th of July. We were kind of quiet, Aunt Kathy & Art went to Aunt Ginny's. I watched the annual show form Washington, D.C. on PBS, it was great. I'm going to catch a nap, I was up with Daddy last night, he's O.K., I'm tired. I was going to go to work for a couple of hours, but now I don't know about that. Love you all.
