After taking a minibus from Hat Yao back to Trang, we took yet another minibus that brought us all the way to Ko Lanta, using a ferry twice on the way. Finding a decent accomodation in Ko Lanta was an easy job as the season has not started yet and the island was half empty. We stayed at the Lanta Palm Beach bungallows in a very nice room for only 12 euros a night (AC, hot water, fridge and TV!), right next to a very nice beach (Hat Phra Ae, on the west coast) with a few cool restaurants and bars where we could watch sunsets and fire shows at night, while having a drink (or 5, which was not great for our budget).

We chilled out for a couple days, sleeping a bit later and hanging out at the beach and bars, and visiting the beach's Thai massage parlour. Again some of the staff didn't have a very good understanding of English, which led to some amusing misunderstandings. The weather was generally nice and sunny, but every afternoon, around 5PM, there were thunderstorms and rain for an hour or so. Thunderstorms were also frequent at night. On the third day we finally decided to leave the comfort of our beach and rented a scooter to go to see the rest of the island. There are many nice little bays an beaches, some of which not yet overdeveloped, but we still liked our location better. We also visited a few local villages on the east coast, which is less touristic and therefore more traditional. We have planned to stay one more day and go diving, but it didn't work out, so we decided to move on to Ko Phi-Phi. Leaving was not easy, as Ko Lanta is a really relaxing and cosy place, and we got used to our luxurious room which was the best one we have seen in a very long time! Overall, Ko Lanta is a great beach destination, although the scenary here is not as impressive as in other parts of the southern Andaman coast.

Apanhámos um minibus para Trang, e dai um outro que nos levou directamente a Ko Lanta. Encontrar alojamento decente em Ko Lanta foi tarefa fácil, pois ainda estavamos na época baixa e haviam poucos turistas na ilha. Ficámos nos bungallows Lanta Palm Beach, num quarto muito bom, por apenas 12 Euros (AC, frigorífico, TV, e água quente!), e mesmo junto a uma bela praia (Hat Phra Ae, na costa oeste) onde haviam alguns bares e restaurantes.

Passámos os dois primeiros 2 dias no relax, a dormir até mais tarde, na praia, nos bares da praia, ou no salão de massagens da praia. Também aqui algumas pessoas não falavam muito Inglês, o que levou a alguns malentendidos hilariantes. O tempo esteve geralmente bastante bom e solarengo, mas todas as tardes, por volta das 5, haviam algumas trovoadas e por vezes chuva durante mais ou menos uma hora. As trovoadas também eram frequentes à noite. No terceiro dia finalmente decidimos deixar o conforto da nossa praia e alugámos uma scooter para ir visitar a ilha. Há muitas pequenas baias e praias bonitas, algumas das quais ainda pouco desenvolvidas para o turismo, mas mesmo assim preferimos a nossa praia. Também visitámos algumas povoações no leste da vila, que é mais tradicional que o oeste. Planeavamos ficar ainda mais um dia para irmos mergulhar, mas acabamos por não ir e, em vez disso, decidimos seguir viagem para as ilhas Ko Phi-Phi. Não foi fácil partir, pois Ko Lanta é um sítio tranquilo e acolhedor, para além disso tinhamo-nos acostumado ao luxo do nosso quarto que era o melhor que tinhamos visto desde há muito! No geral, Ko Lanta é um excelente destino de praia, ainda que a paisagem não seja tão impressionante como em outras partes da costa sul de Andaman.

Levne ubytovani jsme nasli hned, sezona jeste nezacala a ostrov byl poloprazdny. Bydleli jsme v bungalovech Lanta Palm Beach a za 600B (300Kc) jsme meli prostorny bungalov s romantickou koupelnou a obrovskou posteli (a navic jeste klimatizaci, horkou sprchu, lednicku a televizi!). Na plaz, ktera se jmenovala Hat Phra Ae, jsme to meli asi 20m a hlady a zizni jsme rozhodne netrpeli, hned u plaze bylo nekolik restauraci a baru, odkud jsme kazdy vecer pozorovali zapad slunce, ohnove show ruzne kvality a ucucavali piticko (kterych bylo kazdy vecer hned nekolik, nase penezenka tise plakala v kapse).

Prvni dva dny jsme se svedomite pouze valeli na plazi (v recepci meli v knihovnicce jednu knizku v cestine, tak jsem ji hned za ty dva dny zhltla), posedavali v baru a nechali si delat thajske masaze. Spousta domorodcu tu nezvlada nic nez thajstinu, takze to bylo obcas docela srandovni, jak jsme se s nima vsemozne domlouvali. Slunicko svitilo kazdy den, akorat vzdycky odpoledne nebo vecer prisla kratka bourka. Treti den, kdyz jsme se vylenosili dosyta, jsme si pujcili skutr a vyrazili na obhlidku ostrova. Objevili jsme spoustu opustenych plazi a zalivu, ale stejne ta nase byla nejhezci. Na vychodnim pobrezi jsme take zabloudili do nekolika rybarskych vesnicek, kde nebyli zadni turisti, jenom rybari a jejich barky. Chteli jsme zustat jeste jeden den a jet se potapet, ale to bohuzel nevyslo, takze jsme se rozhodli presunout na ostrov Phi Phi. Odjizdeli jsme s tezkym srdcem, na Ko Lante se nam moc libilo, hlavne nas bungalov byl zdaleka nejlepsi druh ubytovani za poslednich nekolik mesicu. Ko Lanta sice nevypada jako raj na zemi (vetsina ostrovu v Andamanskem mori jako raj na zemi vypada), ale i pres to nas okouzlila pohodovou atmosferou a paradnimi bary. :-)
