It's hard to believe, but this time next week I'll be on a flight headed to Cairo. The planning of this trip has seemed to go on forever and I'm so excited to get started. Tonight I'm starting to pack up all my the necessary items. Water filter, first aid kit, silly sun hat...you get the idea.
Hopefully I will be able to share some posts from the road and I'll be having a grand adventure.
Here's a sneak peak at my schedule.
Day 1 Arrive Cairo
Arrive in Cairo at any time.
Day 2 Cairo (B,D)
Explore the Great Pyramids at Giza and the famous Sphinx, perhaps topping off your visit with an optional camel ride
Days 3-4 Aswan (2B,D)
Visit a Nubian village on Elephantine Island. Find out about the way of life here as we have the unique opportunity to be invited for an authentic dinner in a local home. The following day take the opportunity to explore what many consider to be one of Egypt's most impressive temples, Abu Simbel.
Day 5 Felucca (B,L,D)
Spend a day and night aboard our felucca, a traditional Nile sailing boat. Kick back, relax and enjoy the scenery, as you are looked after by our Nubian crew. Take full advantage of our one of a kind support boat, which always seems to conveniently appear when you most need it for meals, cold drinks, or a quick shower to cool yourself off.
Days 6-7 Luxor (2B)
Explore Luxor and its surrounding highlights, such as Karnak Temple and the Luxor Museum. Ride a donkey "Egyptian style" to the West Bank and visit the incredible Valley of the Kings.
Day 8 Cairo (B)
Returning to Cairo by plane on the morning of our final day, our tour concludes on arrival at Cairo International Airport.
