Today we went to the spot in the river that two different people told us about. We parked and hiked up stream a few hundred yards. There were lots of small pools to pan in. We spent a couple hours panning and I found two or three little gold flecks. The real reward was sitting up in the mountains with no one else around in such a beautiful setting. It started to thunder so we went back to the truck for lunch. It rained a little then stopped. It looked like it was moving to the north of us so we went back up to pan some more. We didn't go as far this time and before I could pan through one pan of material a loud crack of thunder convinced us that we might want to get under cover. So unfortunately the rest of our gold panning got rained out, but that's ok. We then went back to the room and I got caught up on the blog and some work related e-mails. As it got later we went to a Applebee's for some familiar food (lots of mexican lately). We then went downtown to a few bars/saloons before calling it a night.
