Started out the day at the Route 66 museum in Clinton, OK. This is a very nice museum with a lot of great history. From there we switched between the expressway and Route 66. We saw the restored Conoco station that was used in the movie Cars. We then stopped at the Devils wire museum which displays the history of barb wire. I never realized how many variations of barbed wire existed until now. Continuing on we made a stop for lunch at a Route 66 icon, "Blessed Mary's". This place is decorated top to bottom with Catholic items: crosses, pictures and various statues. Once you are done with your (organic) food you are asked to leave what you feel is reasonable for payment. From there we stopped at the Cadillac ranch where they have a few old Cadillac's nose into the ground, rear up. We then took some pictures of a restored Magnolia Gasoline station before heading to dirt 66. That's right, Dirt 66. Basically the first 18 miles of Route 66 in New Mexico is dirt. This was wild to drive. This is a must for anyone wanting to travel Route 66!
