Marcher, marcher, marcher.
Yet another beautiful day. I believe I am, sun burned. As Elia described we had a walking, bus, tram, underground day going from one side of san francisco to the other. Having slept much better and much longer we only set off at 9am wanting to go to the tourist information center. Unfortunately it was shut on sundays. We continued walking and we weren't very impressed by the neibourhood. So many homeless sleeping by the shop doors. The smell of piss was so so horrible that after 10 minutes we decided to take the tram. Not really knowing where we were heading, we got off the tram in a much nicer neibourhood and started walking again. This cafe by the road with balloons everywhere caught our eye and we decided to stop for a coffee. It was so nice we ate as well. A very nice fried egg and crispy bacon. As we are eating sandwiches every day and night a nice simple brunch was delicious. Elia fell in love with the potatoes... As expected the castro area was nice and extravagant. We followed some dressed bunnies with massive hats and arrived in a park where they were singing and playing music. They sure know how to party!! It didn't feel like we were in a big city. Excellent atmosphere and dogs everywhere! Tiny dogs must be in fashion as everyone had one! After that I wanted to go and see the japanese gardens in the golden gate park. Although it is the biggest in the world (that's what they say) we weren't really overwhelmed by it. Too many big roads, tarmac and cars. The japanese gardens were nice in comparison. Bonsais and beautiful flowers everywhere. Our legs started to ache by now (I had to buy special heel cushions..) but we didn't want to leave without seeing lombard street. Elia described it well and the hill we climbed was nearly vertical!! That was the coup fatal. Bus and back to the hotel for a rest and a movie. Unfortunately Alcatraz was fully booked for the next week - we will do it next time we come. This morning we booked Universal studio in LA and the hotel for tomorrow as we will take the road.
