I could and I should write more about my last days in Beijing but don’t really feel like it right now. Maybe it’s because I left my dorm in Beijing 12 hours ago after the last-night-in-Beijing party (ok, I’ll be back there in three weeks when coming back from Japan but anyway) and hard packing to get to the airport to fly to Tokyo via Shanghai. However, there was a storm in Shanghai so our plane was late, and yes, I arrived in Tokyo only to realize that all the buses and trains are gone and taxi is far too expensive, so I didn’t have any other options but to spend the night here in the corner of the airport with 12 Filipinos, leaving my already paid expensive hostel bed empty. Anyway, even if I haven’t stepped out of the airport, I can say that that Japan already definitely feels different from China. First of all, instead of rushing in without any control, people actually do queue when they hop on a train in the terminal. Secondly, all the people staying overnight in the airport are constantly being watched by a couple of policemen. Security seems to be a priority here as the policemen also wrote down the information of mine and Filipinos’ passports. Twice.
I’m quite excited to explore Japan the next weeks with Aapo, who arrived earlier today and by the way is probably sleeping in the nice hostel bed right now. First, we’re staying some days in Tokyo, then maybe going to Kyoto. We also plan to do some trips to the countryside and nature north from Tokyo. Probably get back to it within two or three weeks!
