We spent the morning and afternoon wandering around the southern part of Wuchang, eventually ending up back at snack street, where we snacked. It was about 1pm then so we slowly made our way back to the hostel and arrived there at about 2, then took a break before leaving for the train station at a little after 2:30.
The Wuchang train station was really close to the hostel, another huge train station it was definitely not empty
The train stopped quite often along the way, and was practically empty by the time we arrived in Shanghai. It travelled at up to 250 km/h, so I was almost glad we couldn’t see out the window because it would have been rather dizzying. There was hot water on the train, so I was able to make a bowl of instant noodles and eat that for dinner. They also did sell a packaged dinner, but it was probably pretty expensive.
We arrived in Shanghai a little earlier than expected, before 10pm. The director at the taxi stand at the train station put us in a mini-van taxi, which felt oddly roomy after our usual cram into a small taxi with all of our luggage. The price was definitely a shock, especially since the hostel was not close to the train station at all. Compared to the states it was cheap, but it would definitely be difficult to take a taxi ride long enough in Chengdu to have to pay that much. He found the hostel with no trouble, though, and checking in went just fine. Almost half way through our trip now!
