Happy 4th Birthday Lily
After opening pressies and some yummy birthday pancakes we headed off to Mermaid Beach to meet up with the Bouwmeesters, which has now been affectionately called the "Butmeester Holiday". We stayed at “Paloma” a friend's mum’s holiday home, and boy was it magnificent. We were on the 2nd story in a 3 bedroom apartment, and it was right on the beach, and when I say on the beach, literally the only thing between us was some grass and 1 tree. It was amazing to open the doors to the veranda and enjoy a coffee (or wine & cheese) listening and watching the waves roll-in. Even going to sleep to the sound of the surf was glorious.
Of course we had birthday cake, due to a lack of oven, went for the 'very special’ Safeway mud cake with a princess transfer ‘Tinkerbelle’
Tuesday 18th August.
Today is Kylie's birthday, 21 again (I can only dream!). Cooked bacon, eggs, hash bowns and coffee on the balcony. Beautiful!! Headed to Pacific Fair for the day for some good retail therapy. Great sales on at the moment. Kids getting along really well. Had a great afternoon at the beach again. Dinner was a beautiful mix of Chinese and Thai with a glass or 2 or chardy.
Also got a RACQ bargain price of $50 for Dreamworld and WhiteWaterWorld 2day pass. Absolute bargain, normally $69 each park, each day.
Wednesday 19th August
Our bargain RACQ tickets gave us early entry into Dreamworld and so we headed in early to get a few of the big 6 thrill rides done early. The first was the giant drop, which Shaz, Phil and Ezra decided to go on. Just watching it made my stomach do flips and feel very queasy. Sharon and Phil were done after one, Ezra would have gone on it again straight away. Next was the Tower of Terror which even Toby went on (altho he did come out very while afterwards)
Lunchtime came the FlowRider, 30mins of water fun!! We loved it so much booked it in for Friday at WhiteWater World too.
Thursday 20th August
Relaxing day, enjoyed much of the day of the beach. Walk along the beach, and surfing the waves on the Gold Coast. Even the kids had a go at surfing the waves, they were really good and hilarious at the same time.
Friday 21st August
Again with the RACQ tickets we were able to get in early. Altho Toby was a bit car sick so that slowed him down a little for the first hour or so. But once he was feeling better it was full steam ahead. Waterslides, waterslides and more waterslides. Everything from the Rip to the Green Room (aka the Funnel).
Saturday 22nd August
We caught up with an old friend of Adam's friend Melissa for a cooked breakfast, y great food great company
Then we headed to Sizzlers for dinner, we encouraged the kids not to eat anything after lunch to make the most of it. And they didn't and then stuffed themselves silly! As we all did. We miss having a Sizzler down at Frankston. Yum Yum. That parmesan cheese toast is delicious.
Sunday 23rd August
Another day enjoying the beach and sun. And the Bouwmeesters final day in the sun! We will miss them. Beach in the morning, we all tried to surf, Adam stood up ;)
Kids tired slept in the afternoon
We saw a hump back whale from the balcony. Probably about 500m from the beach & heading north, amazing.
Then walked up the beach for an ice cream
Monday 24th August
Hottest QLD winter day in 50years 35degrees, in contrast home is freezing with hail, storms, rain and very strong winds. Home seems so far away and very hard to believe its so cold when we’re at the pool and beach each day. Ky took kids to Pac fair for groceries for Couran while Adam drove to check Couran ferry terminal & find some shorts at Harbour Town outlets – 2 pair A&F shorts, nice
