Monday 10th August

Left Hervey, Stopped at Gympie to see KFC spinning bucket (Hamish & Andy on Fox FM)

Drove to Maroochydore (couldn't get into Mooloolaba, turns out that Sunrise was there so it was all booked out)

Big caravan park, only grass site available, but our site backed onto a large pond with a boardwalk around it. The pond had heaps of ducks, eels & fish and the kids spent ages feeding them some of our stale bread.

Unfortunately the facilities are surrounded by dirt so the showers and bathroom are quite disgusting, for such a nice park it was really bad.

Visited local shopping centre, which straddles the river, huge, plus discovered a Zaffaras Coffee (yay – more free internet!)

Tuesday 11th August

Relaxing day, reading books and lazing around in the sun.

Silly thing at this caravan park is you can’t ride bikes in the park. Which did make it really frustrating for the kids (and us with their whinging about wanting to ride). Kylie took a long ride with Lily in the afternoon along the riverfront, across a footbridge to a little island that had a playground. We had a girly afternoon tea on the beach watching the boats go by and the fishermen try to catch some fish.

Wednesday 12th

Lazy sleep-in morning again this morning. In the afternoon we headed for cover (a shopping centre) as there was supposed to be a fierce thunderstorm. The storm came in the evening, lots of brilliant thunder and lightening, and good dose of rain for about 40minutes, then by 10pm the skies were clear again, not even cold. So bizarre, nothing like Melbourne thunderstorms.

While at the shopping centre we watched people riding paddle bikes in the river. They were travelling really well until the began heading towards a waterfall that cascaded from the boardwalk (a large waterfall). They were heading straight towards it, the tried fanatically to paddled backwards out of there but alas to the amusement of everyone watching they got very wet. It was funny hearing their screams of both delight and frustration.

Bought a great 'Find It’ game from a Puzzle store. Will keep us amused for days (if not weeks).

Thursday 13th August

Today we drove to Noosa and explored the very expensive area of the rich and famous. It was beautiful but busy (and very expensive).

Having lunch in the food-court we bumped into Di & Fred Fellows from church. They are doing the grey-nomad thing. Funny how small the world is sometimes.

Wished we had taken our bathers and board in the car with us to Noosa, cause the beach was stunning and nice swell too.

In the afternoon, kids swam in the pool, (still no heated pools so I just paddled), but it was a great lagoon pool, with its own little sandy beach, kids played there for hours. Adam went off to find a Ticket-tec for some footy tickets (which proved much more difficult than it should have been), while I enjoyed some relaxing sun, and some made family phone calls.
