Today was a restday in the gambling capital of the world Las Vegas. We stayed in the rather dirty and worn out Imperial Palace Hotel near the centre of the strip and opposite Ceasers Palace. I was not impressed with this hotel at all from the word go. Just trying to get booked in meant standing in a queue not unlike a airport for well over 2 hours. The queue was right down the casino for hours on end. Apart from that the whole place just seemed to have seen bitter days.
John and myself went off for a walk in search for a travel agent to book my flight home from New York
I decided rather than go out on another walking spree with the rest to go in search of a bike shop who could change my oil. The first shop I found was a massive Harley shop and no ways was I going to let them touch my modern little Honda..........that would just be far too complicated for them!!!
However they gave me instructions of where to find other shops but with it being Sunday nothing was open so I returned back to the hotel.
As I pulled into the parking bays I saw Nick sitting on the floor with his pc in hand alongside his bike. I stopped and we got chatting. He was one day late due to a puncture on his bike but as I was soon to find out this was not the only problem!!
Nick was handed one of Yamaha's new £14000 Super Tenere's to try and break the world record from top to bottom of the Pan American Highway
£14000 for any bike seems a lot of money but for it to only do about 12000 miles and destroy itself is shameless. I would much rather buy a reliable Honda Transalp at half the price;-)
By the time I finished chatting to Nick my insides were feeling rather rough and I decided to spend the rest of the afternoon sleeping away on my bed!!
We were all meeting up down stairs at the pub at 7pm to head out to dinner but even by 9pm they were all still sitting there drinking and a few of us hungry buggers had to put pressure on them to get their arses out of the pub and into a restaurant. As many of us were leaving the group here in Vegas tonight was really our last night together as a group and I was hoping we could all have a good meal out together. However that was not to be and before I knew it a few had disappeared and were upstairs in the pizza restaurant!!
After the meal it was back to our hotel and goodbye's were said all round. It seemed a rather sad moment as we had all kind of become one large family.
From then I headed up to the room where I knew John would be fast asleep only to discover I had left my key in the room!! Now this was going to be a problem as the room was booked to John and I was not even on the hotel guest list. I went to the front desk and told them I had locked my key-card in the room. The chap asked me my name and what room number. I now had to pretend I was john and was just preying he did not ask me for any ID!! Sure enough nothing was asked for and a new key-card was issued and that was my time in Vegas.
