Today was our first day of independent travel. No professors, no itinerary, just Europe and what you make of it.
I donīt remember what all I have told you about the group I am with or our itinerary, but to rehash, it is me, Eva, and Emily Robinson in Granada for the moment. We spent most of today just sort of sounding out the city--what were the huge tourist traps and where were the supermarkets, etc. We watched the sunset from San Nicolas viewpoint on top of a hill overlooking the city. On a the hill next to us was the Alhambra, a palace from the days of Moorish Spain. That tour is on the agenda for tomorrow. In the background of all of this were the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains. My camera didnīt take wide enough shots, but I tried to do some panoramic video so that you all could see. It was absolutely fantastic. We also stopped into a little cafe later and had Ciocolatte con Churros. Again, I donīt remember what I may have said on this dish from my earlier sojourn to Spain, but this particular dish is hot chocolate so thick that if you donīt stir it, it will solidify, and small fried pastries that you dip in it. An indulgence, yes, but worth it.
Tomorrow we have booked the Alhambra tour and are also planning to cook for ourselves. The kitchen in our hostel isnīt much, but it is better than the nothing that we had for six weeks in London, and we are sick of instant soup.
Remind me to tell about our hostel later.
