So to make up for lack of details in other entries, here are my top three Morocco experiences (not necessarily the things I enjoyed, just the most authentic and possibly awkward.
(1) The moment I broke my vegetarianism of 8 years: the first day in Meknes, when I was offered a lamb stew. Its very rude here to turn down food that is offered to you, especially if it is meat. There was a split second where I almost didnt do it, but I decided not to risk making a faux pas. I will never forget the sleepless night of extreme sickness after... So unpleasant.
(3) Dealing with the Police: During our trip to the Sahara, Adil and I were stopped twice in one day by the police to find out what we were doing. Why? Well, because I'm white of course. That was a bit of a shock.
There are other things, tons good things of course, but these are the most interesting. I've loved Morocco, but I'm glad to be leaving. It's exhausting to not be able to speak in your own language and also to be different everywhere... there's no hope of going out and just looking at things in a store, or buying vegetables, or anything simple like this without an certain amount of fuss. I'm about done.
