Went out for a jog by myself in the late morning and ended up in what
seemed like the worst neighborhood in town - shabby houses, trash
strewn about, few cars and then old and rusty. I often seem to do so
and have found that I am not scared. I read something once along the
lines of showing compassion to all that you meet and I've changed the
theory up a bit but when I'm in situations like this, I go back to a
similar thought. If I show kindness (even in the simplest form of a
smile and greeting) to many, and if there is a bad seed there that may
take advantage of it, there are others that will step in to defend
goodness. It's as though I have a few angels in human form now
watching over me as I jog on through. It's so comforting and a great
faith experience. My own faith in my Creator and of the human
condition.
Later on my walk about town and to the capitol bldg, I walked past a
man (might have been homeless, definitely down on his luck) and I
smiled. I received in return this huge smile and a 'hello, pretty
lady.' I felt more beautiful in that moment than if a young handsome
man would've said it. It has to do with a soul beauty and runs so deep
that it fills the spirit, not the ego.
Did do some group social activities, as well. :) Ventured to the mall with Zoe. Then cabbed over to a bowling alley with the big gang - one of the truck drivers organized this one. Good times.
