Pretty good day off. I went for a nice jog that morning on my own down to the Arch and around it a bit. Got hit on as I was nearing my hotel. One of the 2 guys made a running motion since I had stopped and was saying something to me. I was curious enough to take my headphones off. Some more chatting, then one of them made a comment about my strong legs and that he found them sexy. I like that kind of compliment...and did feel safe (promise I watch out for myself!!)
I then ventured off on my own on St. Louis's Metro system to Forest Park. Nice park larger than NYC's Central Park, with several museums and fountains. My destination with the St Louis Art Museum which was free! and quite nice. I posted a couple of pics of my favorite pieces on Facebook. I needed that time. To break away from the group and do my own thing. To not worry about a larger group and consensus. I am far, far too adapted to traveling about on my own now! AND really like to do so!! After gazing at paintings by many of the greats- Monet, Degas, Renoir, Picasso, Van Gogh, Rembrandt -I then strolled about the lawn and reclined near a fountain for awhile. I did meet up with a larger group for a wonderful tapas meal that evening. Seems to be a good balance for me - Andrea time in the morning/afternoon and then camaraderie in the afternoon.
